There is no cooler feeling than adding a visual to a song you wrote. What are some of your favorite music videos right now??
- October 16, 2014 at 4:59 pm #269
This is one of the coolest videos I’ve seen in a while. And if you haven’t seen it I suggest you stop what you’re doing for 4 minutes and watch.
The 1975 “Robbers”
- October 16, 2014 at 5:16 pm #304
YEEEESSSSSS !!!! THE 1975 ! This will possibly be my favorite music video of 2014
- October 16, 2014 at 5:19 pm #308
I love them and the video is soo good. The video for the song Heaven in our headlights is one of my favs right now the video concept is somewhat similar to Robbers.
- October 16, 2014 at 6:22 pm #382
Totally agree! One my favourite videos by them and I love that they included shots from the tour!
- October 16, 2014 at 6:18 pm #380
yesss agree with this! This music video is awesome!
- October 16, 2014 at 5:06 pm #283
I love that video but my favorite right now is probably this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aQz-aKvyQU
- October 16, 2014 at 5:06 pm #284
Hurricane by Halsey is badass, it’s my fave right now http://blbrd.cm/WM3i7n
- October 17, 2014 at 7:18 pm #699
A lot of people have already mentioned Ed’s latest video for Thinking Out Loud, but seriously…. I nearly cried the first time I saw it. The dance was just so beautiful and the video was so simple. So moved by it.
Someone also mentioned Halsey which I also agree 100% with. Hurricane is her best song out in my opinion and the music video definitely solidifies that for me.
- October 16, 2014 at 5:09 pm #292
Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud video, like the choreography is so amazing and the song itself is so beautiful, it’s definitely one of my favorite music videos
- October 16, 2014 at 5:10 pm #297
ED Sheeran!! That video blew my mind, that must have taken so much time and effort to nail that dance. Cinematography is flawless and he killed the performance.
- October 16, 2014 at 6:22 pm #387
This is absolutely one of my favorite songs at the moment. The music video just makes me love it a thousand times more. Ed Sheeran truly does go above and beyond as an artist!
- October 16, 2014 at 10:47 pm #572
This is one of my faves right now too! It’s my favorite song off the album and the video is so visually stunning. It suits the song so well. I got teary-eyed when I watched it the first time, it’s so beautiful aha
- October 16, 2014 at 5:12 pm #298
I think one of my favorite music videos of all time have to be “everybody’s got somebody but me” by Hunter Hayes and Jason Mraz. Simply because it’s a fun video and always makes me smile. Sometimes the simple ones are the best ones
- October 16, 2014 at 5:15 pm #301
Unbreakable-Jamie Scott makes me feel some type of way…plus the lyrics are incredible ! It’s a really great song ! You all should have a listen!
Also Thinking Out Loud-Ed Sheeran, I just love how its just him & the girl dancing yet has so much meaning behind it both faves atm
- October 16, 2014 at 5:18 pm #305
- October 16, 2014 at 5:32 pm #316
Marianas Trench has the best music videos. But this one is my favorite. It is the funniest thing I have ever seen.
- October 16, 2014 at 5:45 pm #329
Tbh I think Taylor Swift has some of the best music videos. I just love the positive vibe most of them got. Love simple music videos that tell a story no matter how cheesy it might be haha
- October 16, 2014 at 5:46 pm #330
As someone previously mentioned, Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud video is amazing. His commitment as an artist in learning the dance instead of having a professional do it is truly inspiring. The simplicity of the video for such an amazing song is awesome too !
But I have to say that Coldplay’s music video for True Love is one of my all time favorites. The message is so motivational and inspiring and it means a lot to me personally. The delivery of the message throughout the video is quite adorable and it’s just a really great video !
- October 16, 2014 at 5:46 pm #331
so much commitment to be able to pull that video off. so cool.
- October 16, 2014 at 6:16 pm #375
I was going to say Robbers! But since you did, another favorite: http://youtu.be/VrTNXF741fE
It’s not the technical music video but it gets me choked up every time. I loved it so much I even planned something like this at the NYC Legendary Unplugged date, where people would hold up “this song saved my life” signs during Maybe Tonight, but my plan kinda failed miserably. I hope you enjoy this video though! It says everything I wish I could about The Summer Set.

- October 16, 2014 at 7:23 pm #463
Not very recent, but I think Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes has an amazing music video.
It’s so simple, yet so entertaining and effective. The song and video will always be a favorite of mine.
- October 16, 2014 at 7:29 pm #464
John, I feel like you would appreciate this music video (:
- October 16, 2014 at 7:45 pm #471
Have you seen The Ready Set’s new video for Freakin’ Me Out??? I love watching music videos that contain footage from touring. It shows how much you enjoy doing your job 😀
- October 16, 2014 at 7:45 pm #472
I think my favorite music videos would have to be any of Panic! at the Disco’s. They don’t make sense to a lot of people, but there are a lot of hidden meanings in them that are so interesting to me. My favorite video from their newest album is “This Is Gospel” because the lyrics and the video together are so amazing.

Sara Bareilles’ “I Choose You” has a really awesome music video where she helps two couples propose to their significant others. Adorbs.
- October 16, 2014 at 9:31 pm #541
the video for Haunted by Beyoncé is beyond amazing, the way it was shot was beautiful and creepy and amazing. it has kind of an American horror story feel and that kinda makes me love it more
- October 16, 2014 at 9:53 pm #549
I think Ed Sheeran’s Give Me Love video is one of the sickest videos. But my all time favorite video would probably have to be Pink’s Try. I think the dance and body movement in that video so beautifully portray the lyrics. Every step in that video brings one of the song lyrics to life. It is truly remarkable.
- October 16, 2014 at 10:02 pm #552
I’ll never forget the music video for Cross My Heart by Marianas Trench. I don’t really listen to them anymore but it has stayed with me for some reason.
- October 16, 2014 at 10:39 pm #567
I actually really really love this Video !! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDyxykpYeu8

Out of all the music videos I’ve seen recently, I think ed sheeran’s thinking out loud truly tops my list because firstly the whole concept behind the video is beautiful. And the cinematography too. Everything about this video is incredible and well done and I have to hand it to ed for being able to nail that dance. He was wonderful as per usual.
- October 17, 2014 at 7:05 am #602
I’m definitely digging all of these videos. Ed Sheeran’s videos are always wonderful.
One of my current favourites (and I may be a little biased towards it for reasons) is Driver Friendly’s Everything Gold
These guys have always been one of my favourites since I found them years ago as just a little local band in Houston and now they’re signed and touring the country and I couldn’t be happier for them because it’s well deserved.
They actually filmed this video while on their last tour and after their shows went around the town and projected themselves onto the buildings. So none of this is green screened or edited onto random buildings, they’re very self made and self managed and that’s one of my favourite things about them.

Porter Robinson’s “Lionhearted”! I just love the girl power!
- October 17, 2014 at 9:10 pm #721
I loved the videos for Thinking Out Loud and Robbers.
If I have to mention something else though, I’d say Set It Off’s video for Why Worry.

has anyone checked out the music video for the new Foo Fighters single Something From Nothing? It’s really cool it’s a lot like the Lightning In A Bottle lyric video in that it’s not just lyrics on the screen it’s also video of the band. Check it out it’s really cool to watch! link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_YlZ1JdcVk#t=108

- October 20, 2014 at 4:37 pm #853
Our good friend Max Schneider just released a music video for his song “Darling” and it will blow your mind.
- October 20, 2014 at 8:10 pm #870
This song makes me think of dancing on the cool kitchen tiles on a Sunday morning; with the smell of coffee in the air and the early birds chirping away outside.
Sounds cheesy but it’s funny how you can hear a song for the first time and feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia, isn’t it?
Thanks for sharing John – love the song and video
- October 21, 2014 at 6:19 pm #904
I really like “Give Me The World” by New Empire directed by Peter John of Epik Films. It’s old but so good
- October 21, 2014 at 8:22 pm #915
yet another suggestion: i’m kinda obsessed with this music video right now ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sesKiKYQn84

I just remembered this cool video from Sheppard. Having completed a film degree, I really love the way the picture changes slightly every time they change camera. Also, it’s a really cute little song … even if it is about the end of a relationship
- October 25, 2014 at 5:04 pm #1004
Young the giant Mind Over Matter has been a favorite of mine. i love the green screen and effects in it. the editing in it is incredible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWWRGmWKkfI

Currently my favorite is the Last Hope video from Paramore. It’s a live performance, but seeing Haley get so lost in the performance gives me chills every time.

I have a lot of music videos that I really honestly enjoy. Right now, one of my favorites would have to be Sleeping Limbs by From Indian Lakes. I love the shooting style. http://youtu.be/dwzDIRtoWA0
I also shoot music videos, my good friends from AIA recently released a new single with the video we shot and edited for them.
- November 17, 2014 at 9:08 pm #1335
my favorite video right now would probally be The Ballad of Mona Lisa by Panic! At The Disco or Time Bomb by All Time Low
- November 26, 2014 at 5:19 pm #1361
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3oItpVa9fs …this one just because the behind the scenes blew my mind…and it’s 4K!

This video by OK Go must have taken forever to shoot
I wonder how many attempts it took them to get it in a single shot.
- May 23, 2015 at 8:42 am #1678
My favorite music video right now is
Loud by R5
- December 14, 2015 at 2:46 pm #1887
This video by far has some of the best cinematics for a music video i have seen in a while, and the story that the video follows is so well put together, although Panic! at the Disco’s Emperor’s New Clothes is a close second. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeQMuTf3B0E

I’ve always wanted to direct a music video. Literally whenever I’m listening to music I always think about what type of music video I could film for it. What locations I’d choose, costume, make-up, hair, actors, scenery.
